Monk Institute artistic director lands another Grammy

Terence Blanchard, artistic director of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance at Loyola University New Orleans, was recognized Sunday night with a Grammy Award for the category Best Jazz Instrumental Solo.

Loyola University New Orleans Department of History and the Biever Lecture Series welcome Robert Malley, Ph.D., program director for the Middle East and North Africa of the International Crisis Group, to present "U.S. Middle East Policy: What Obama Might Do." The lecture is meant to promote the creation of a Middle East Peace Studies Program at Loyola University.

Canadian theatre scholar to present Biever lecture and workshop

Dr. Michael Devine, Canadian theatre director and founder of BoxWhatBox performance creation workshop, will present a lecture followed by a panel discussion on "Balkan Art and Politics on Both Sides of the Serbian/Kosovo Border." The lecture takes place on Feb. 16, at 7:30 p.m., in Nunemaker Auditorium.

Loyola University New Orleans Office of Co-curricular Programs will screen filmmaker Rebecca Snedeker's documentary "By Invitation Only" Monday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m., followed by a discussion with Snedeker. Theatre professor wins international award to perform in Ukraine

Artemis Preeshl, assistant professor of theatre arts at Loyola University New Orleans, won the international competition, Shakespeare: Four Sketches, in January and was selected by the International University Global Theatre Experience to travel to Ukraine in May.

Thomas Spence, associate professor and chair of the chemistry department in the College of Humanities and Natural Sciences received a Most Highly Cited Paper award for his contribution to the journal, Plasma Sources Science and Technology.

Psychology professor publishes books and serves as journal editor

Glenn Hymel, Ed.D, L.M.T., professor of psychology in the College of Humanities and Natural Sciences, has recently published two textbooks, "Research Methods for Massage and Holistic Therapies" and "Clinical Massage in the Healthcare Setting," published by Elsevier/Mosby Publishing.
