Gov. Jindal, Guantanamo attorney to speak at 2009 Loyola commencement - Herbie Hancock to receive honorary degree
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal will address the Loyola University New Orleans 2009 graduating class, and internationally renowned jazz musician and chairman of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz at Loyola, Herbie Hancock, will receive an honorary degree during commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 9, at 10 a.m., at the Louisiana Superdome.
Ellis Marsalis, Leah Chase and Monk Institute students to perform benefit concert at Loyola
Renowned jazz pianist and educator Ellis Marsalis and jazz vocalist Leah Chase, M'75, along with students from the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance, will perform at "Jazz for the Ages," a concert to benefit the Old Algiers RiverFest.

Loyola University New Orleans to add women's tennis to athletic program
Loyola University New Orleans will add women's tennis to its sports lineup for the 2009-10 academic year in order to meet Title IX and Gulf Coast Athletic Conference requirements. The addition of women's tennis will give the Wolfpack 11 sponsored sports.

Big first half propels Loyola to back-to-back winning seasons
The Wolfpack men's basketball scored 53 first half points on 75.9 percent shooting as the team secured Loyola's first back-to-back winning seasons since the 1970-71 and 1971-72 campaigns, defeating the Dillard Blue Devils 83-67 Thursday night at The Den.
Mainguy's double-double gives Loyola win over Dillard
Wolfpack forward Christine Mainguy notched her second double-double on the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds as Loyola defeated Dillard 79-60 Thursday night at The Den.
