Loyola offers diverse summer courses through on-campus and online study

Students seeking college courses at a discount rate have more options than ever before this summer at Loyola University New Orleans. In addition to offering more than 300 on-campus summer courses, the university has increased its online courses by over 60 percent, with more than 40 different online classes available to Loyola students, visiting students from across the nation, as well as new and continuing non-degree students.

Student Affairs announces promotions of Reed, Beebe

Loyola University New Orleans Director of Residential Life Robert Reed has been promoted to assistant vice president for Student Affairs. Reed, who has served in his current position since 1981, will begin his new role on Aug. 1. The associate director of Residential Education, Craig Beebe, will serve as the department's interim director for 2009-2010.

2009 Yamauchi Lecture in Religion is Sunday

The Rev. Peter Bernardi, S.J., associate professor of religious studies in the College of Humanities and Natural Sciences, will be the featured presenter of the 2009 Yamauchi Lecture in Religion. This semiannual lecture seeks to bring the results of religious scholarship to a wider audience. The lecture takes place on Sunday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m.

Loyola law student receives state bar pro bono award

Alison McCrary, a second-year student in the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, will receive the Louisiana State Bar Association's 2009 Pro Bono Publico Law Student Award during its annual meeting on May 19 at the Louisiana Supreme Court in New Orleans.

Town hall meeting to address Uptown sexual assaults and safety on campus

Loyola University New Orleans will host a safety town hall meeting on Thursday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m., in the Audubon Room, located on the second floor of the Danna Student Center. David Morelock says "so long" with final opera production

Loyola Opera Theatre will bid farewell to director David Morelock who is retiring this semester after 13 years of service. The production of Henry Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas," the English three-act tragic drama based on Virgil's "Aeneid," will serve as Morelock's last performance as opera director at Loyola.

The Monk Institute graduating class plays last performance on campus

The first graduating class of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance will play its last concert at Loyola University New Orleans this Sunday. The Loyola Jazz Band also will also perform at the swan song concert.
