Loyola at a Glance

Summer session registration opens April 4

April 1, 2011

Students in search of college credits at discounted rates now have more options than ever before. More than 200 undergraduate, graduate and law courses will be offered this summer at Loyola University New Orleans, including 41 online courses. Registration for summer courses begins April 4. To register, visit the summer session homepage at http://www.loyno.edu/summer.

Loyola’s summer curriculum will offer new courses this year including: Cultural Politics of Rock and Roll (Political Science); Chariots to Tanks: Western Military History (History); and Chemistry and Art (Chemistry). There will also be new online courses including The 70s: As Seen on TV (Theatre).

Summer session classes are financially friendly. Each day program credit costs $692, versus $869 during the fall and spring semesters. Evening program rates cost the same as fall and spring rates.

“The summer session allows students to make progress toward graduation and lighten their course load during the fall and spring semesters,” said Teri Berthelot, academic adviser and summer session coordinator. “The condensed sessions allow students to complete requirements in a shorter period of time, and the variety of online and on-campus courses give students flexible options for completing their requirements.”

The summer is divided into several sessions allowing for greater scheduling flexibility for students between May 23 and August 1. Offered sessions include two five-week sessions, one ten-week session and one eight-week session for on-campus study. One eight-week session will be available for online courses.

The deadline for the first five-week on-campus session is Tuesday, May 24 and the deadline for the second five-week on-campus session is Tuesday, June 28. The registration deadline for online courses is Wednesday, June 1.
