Law professor participates in environmental justice workshop

September 30, 2011

Robert Verchick, the Gauthier-St. Martin Eminent Scholar of the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, was a featured speaker today at "Closing the Environmental Justice Gap: A Workshop on Advancing Evaluation Methods," in Los Angeles.

Verchick, who is also the chair in environmental law and faculty director of the Center for Environmental Law and Land Use, was a panelist for the session “Background on Environmental Justice Policies and Programs.”

The workshop took place at UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Affairs and brought together leaders from across the country to examine the current state of environmental justice programs, assess the current state of environmental justice program evaluation, and explore strategies to further develop the sub-field of environmental justice program evaluation.

Lisa Garcia, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s senior advisor to the administrator for environmental justice, is the keynote speaker.
