Loyola professor publishes expanded research on airport studies

October 26, 2012

Calling all jetsetters: Loyola University New Orleans assistant professor Christopher Schaberg, Ph.D., published two recent articles in his field of airport studies. An essay on airport seating was published in the media and cultural studies journal “Transformations” and another essay on drone aircraft was published in “The New Inquiry.” That same article was also republished in “Salon” in September.

Schaberg’s book “The Textual Life of Airports” comes out in paperback this March. Since it was released last December, the book has been cited in The New York Times as well as in numerous scholarly publications.

Schaberg is also working on a sequel to his first airport book, tentatively called “The End of Airports.” This book focuses on futuristic instances and possible scenarios where new media technologies supersede the need to actually travel by air.
