Loyola Institute for Ministry kicks off free 'Spirituality in the City' series

September 20, 2013

The Loyola University New Orleans Institute for Ministry begins its “First Tuesdays: Spirituality in the City” series in October. The public events, running from October to May, feature free lunch and are designed to promote rich dialogue on spirituality topics by hosting presenters with a wide range of religious backgrounds.

“Religious misunderstanding is the source of such conflict in our world today,” said Tom Ryan, Ph.D., director of the Loyola Institute for Ministry. “In contrast, appreciative conversation with those whose faith differs from our own works against that conflict and can even enhance our own spirituality.”

With that mission in mind, the first event Oct. 1 features speakers from Eden House, a two-year residential program for women commercially and sexually exploited. Kara French and Clemmie Greenlee of Eden House will present “Love and Life after Human Trafficking.” The talk is set for 12:30 p.m. at Lenes Hall located at Jesuit Church of the Immaculate Conception, 130 Baronne Street. Free lunch will be served at 12:15 p.m.
