Loyola alumni clean up local school and lend a helping hand nationwide

On Saturday, Nov. 15, Loyola University New Orleans alumni across the country will join together in a tradition of helping others that goes back 15 years. This national day of service, known as Wolves on the Prowl, is also touching lives in New Orleans through a local effort where Loyola alumni are partnering with KIPP Central City Primary to help beautify the school grounds.

New certificate program in College of Law prepares students for work with needy

The Loyola University New Orleans College of Law now offers a new Social Justice Certificate Program, which assists students who want to effectively advocate for the poor and the marginalized. Through hands-on experience and focused academic study in this certificate program, students will not only be able to advance public interest causes for the needy and disadvantaged, but also provide a strong signal of their commitment to social justice to fellowship programs and future employers.

Loyola panel, featuring NOPD retired chief Ronal Serpas, explores resounding effects of shooting in Ferguson

Loyola University New Orleans is hosting the forum, "Fergusons Across America," giving students the opportunity to participate in a discussion about what happened in Ferguson, Mo., after the shooting death of African-American Michael Brown by a white police officer set off a firestorm of violent protests as well as debates about race and law enforcement. Loyola's Tuesday, Nov. 18 forum digs deeper into those issues and features former New Orleans Police Department superintendent and Loyola professor Ronal Serpas, Ph.D.

Loyola's upcoming Fall Open House launches three new degree programs

Nearly 350 people are expected at Loyola University New Orleans' Fall Open House Saturday, Nov. 15 that highlights the university's three newest degree programs catering to the needs and interests of today's students, including digital filmmaking, pop music and design. The open house, set for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., is designed for college-bound students. The Fall Open House also includes a menu of hands-on sessions, allowing students a more personalized experience of areas of the university they are interested in.
